Hey, everyone. This is going to be a really quick entry to pass along info on a couple of items…literally, two things:

Before this point, I would repeatedly state my preferences for reader emails and people would ignore those statements over and over again, which would result in me restating them constantly and annoying other readers in the process. I guess that was all driven by my pledge to always respond … Read the rest

Hey, everyone. As many of my long-time readers know, I’m very open to receiving feedback from my readers about this blog and, at times, I’ll post the feedback in an entry along with my response if it’s relevant. This entry is another example of that.

Earlier today, an anonymous reader posted the following constructive (read: blunt) piece of feedback to me in a comment on one of my past entries about how I’ve pretty much become a less interesting person since I went off to business school. Apparently, the pre-MBA version of me from my first couple of years of … Read the rest

Hello all, I hope you had a nice evening and have started off your day well. As you know, I regularly read comments that my readers post on my site and take time to consider all feedback that I receive. This entry is to respond to some feedback that came in and sparked some thoughts. It came in as a posted comment rather than an email, so posting an entry was the only way that I could respond. Here’s the story…

One of my readers who goes by the handle “ConsultantGirl” left the following comment on a recent blog entry … Read the rest

What’s up, everyone. Is it just me or have I been posting a whole lot of entries lately? I’ve been going through a period of introspection over the past month or so and have been working through a lot of stuff in my mind during that time. I can’t put it all into words yet, but I’m slowly gaining clarity on many issues that have been dogging me out for a long time now. I guess all of this thinking has given me more motivation to write, which is a good thing considering my backlog of reader emails. Also, since… Read the rest

Hey, everyone. This is going to be a short entry, but it’s one that I felt the need to write to set expectations of what I’m willing to do in my responses to readers.

A couple of days ago, I started an exchange with a reader who had left a comment about my April 29th post… Read the rest. His question was about why I don’t make links to my past posts in my responses to readers. I’ve copied the comment-exchange below:

The email below is a response from the reader whose message was posted yesterday. I love getting a quick response to an email that I’ve put a lot of time into, but it’s even better when the person truly “gets it”. I’m posting this response because SZ’s perspective might prove helpful to other readers out there.

Thank you so much for getting around to my question. I really appreciate your time and perspective.

When I first sent in my question, I was still interning at Deloitte, and I was curious about what other firms had to… Read the rest

I just received this email from the reader I responded to in my August 21 entry. It’s good to see that she’s ready to face the application process with a renewed focus. :-) I hope all of you will cross your fingers and wish her well as she prepares to apply again.

“Hello Marquis,

Thanks so much for replying to my email. I had almost assumed that you wouldn’t reply to that email. The email was so vague! I felt that just after sending it to you. However, I have to say that I was more surprised… Read the rest
