Hey, everyone. This is going to be a really quick entry to pass along info on a couple of items…literally, two things:

#1. After months of talking about it, I finally made time to create a set of guidelines for readers who email me for advice and perspectives on their issues. Before this point, I would repeatedly state my preferences for reader emails and people would ignore those statements over and over again, which would result in me restating them constantly and annoying other readers in the process. I guess that was all driven by my pledge to always respond … Read the rest

Hey, everyone. As many of my long-time readers know, I’m very open to receiving feedback from my readers about this blog and, at times, I’ll post the feedback in an entry along with my response if it’s relevant. This entry is another example of that.

Earlier today, an anonymous reader posted the following constructive (read: blunt) piece of feedback to me in a comment on one of my past entries about how I’ve pretty much become a less interesting person since I went off to business school. Apparently, the pre-MBA version of me from my first couple of years of … Read the rest

Hey there. I’m not going to include much of an intro to this entry because this is more in the category of “things that make me grin” than anything that most of you would consider productive.

The email below came in after I mentioned in my Sept 7th entry that I didn’t think people came to this blog to hear stories about me anymore. When the reader sent his email, he probably didn’t think much of it, but reading it truly left me with a smile on my face. After receiving so many emails where people are looking for me … Read the rest

What’s going on, everyone. I’d like to start this entry by passing along an interesting article that was posted on BusinessWeek.com a couple of weeks ago. The article is called
‘How to Write an MBA Admissions Essay’… Read the rest and the author breaks down the steps to compose a good B-school essay. When I first read the article, I found it to be pretty basic and didn’t think it would be useful to post up here. Then, I read it a second time a couple of weeks later and thought back to myself six years ago when I was approaching the MBA

OK, I know that some of you are going to roll your eyes when you see this, but it made me smile so I’m going to post it…Gotta love getting nice shout-outs every now and then :-) This isn’t the first one of these I’ve ever received and I don’t post most of them, but this one caught me at the right time, so here it is…

Hello all, I hope you had a nice evening and have started off your day well. As you know, I regularly read comments that my readers post on my site and take time to consider all feedback that I receive. This entry is to respond to some feedback that came in and sparked some thoughts. It came in as a posted comment rather than an email, so posting an entry was the only way that I could respond. Here’s the story…

One of my readers who goes by the handle “ConsultantGirl” left the following comment on a recent blog entry … Read the rest

What’s good, peoples. Happy Cinco de Mayo!!!! I hope you all have a good time celebrating it tonight…I know that I will :-)

Before diving into this entry, I’d like to thank everyone who responded to my last entry about why I don’t link to my archived entries in a supportive manner. It’s good to know that y’all understand where I was coming from and why I was as frustrated as my words made me sound. That said, I didn’t write the post for people to come down hard on “knight17″. Thinking back, he/she probably didn’t know any better and… Read the rest

Hey, everyone. This is going to be a short entry, but it’s one that I felt the need to write to set expectations of what I’m willing to do in my responses to readers.

A couple of days ago, I started an exchange with a reader who had left a comment about my April 29th post… Read the rest. His question was about why I don’t make links to my past posts in my responses to readers. I’ve copied the comment-exchange below:
