In this entry, you’ll be introduced to Tanisha Drummer, a Strategy professional and former Management Consultant. Tanisha is a friend of mine from my years at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and has done some really interesting things in her career. Tanisha is a former Management Consultant in Accenture’s Strategy Practice, where she focused on Marketing strategy for 4 years before business school and 1.5 years afterward. She’s been in her current Corporate Strategy role at US Cellular for over a year now and has been having tremendous impact.

I’m tempted to give you more background on her … Read the rest

Hey there, folk. So, I’m writing this entry from within the walls of my warm apartment, where I’ll probably sit all day long. Chicago is such a nice city, but it’s so cold outside that most people seem to stay inside during the winter months. My girl TD refers to this as “The Great Hibernation” and says that it happens every year like clockwork. I’ve been told that the warm months are so nice that it more than makes up for these cold times, but it’s going to be like five more months until those warm months come. I hope… Read the rest

What’s good, peoples. I know that it’s been a while since I’ve posted a real new entry, but I’ve been swamped trying to get everything set up in Chicago. So far, I’m really liking this city and, fortunately, I already had a lot of friends here, so it’s turning out to be a good transition after two weeks. The new job is going well and I’m happy to be on to a new challenge. The only downside of being in Chicago is the weather…oh my goodness, this city is colder than anything I’ve ever experienced. Before this past weekend, I… Read the rest

What’s up, y’all. I know it’s been a while since I wrote an entry, but that’s because I wanted to make sure I had something worth writing…and, after this past Friday, I do. That day was my final day at FGM Inc and I’m officially unemployed and I’m probably the most happy unemployed mofo in the world right about now :-D

My last month at work was brutal because I was given almost no tasking during that time. I guess my managers didn’t want to give me anything that I wouldn’t be able to finish in my last weeks, so … Read the rest

OK, it’s finally done…I finally put in my notice of resignation today and I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of me. I wasn’t planning on giving my notice until next Friday afternoon and I’d written the first draft of my letter last night, but I realized that I would have to move my notification up earlier this morning. One of my coworkers whose last day is this coming Friday told me this morning that he had a hunch I’d be asked to take over the management of his former project and, once I thought about it, … Read the rest

Yesterday, I got an email from the Admissions Office at Stanford saying that they had hired a company to do background checks of all its admitted students for the Class of 2006 to verify the information that they had put in their applications, including information about one’s current employer. Apparently, these background checks are going to start today and go until the end of May.

This is problematic because I wasn’t planning on putting in my notice of resignation until June 15 and I’m worried that the search company’s inquiry will alert the HR people at my company that i’m … Read the rest

I just got out of a meeting with my personnel manager and now I’m feel all kinds of guilty. Since I transitioned to my current role in January, he has gone a long way toward giving me a lot of opportunities to learn things through new tasking and he’s been trying to give me the skills that I’d need to become a good Project Manager here…the problem is that I’m going to have to put in my notice sometime in June and I’m afraid that he’ll think I was wasting his time with all the tutilege that he’s given me.… Read the rest
