The article below was contributed by Conrad over at 2minute GMAT… Read the rest in hopes of helping my readers get ready for the GMAT exam. As those of you who have applied or are currently applying to business school programs know, the GMAT exam is a very important part of the MBA application process and, unfortunately, many applicants don’t have a clue of how to best prepare for it. There are many different approaches that can be used to study the core subjects, but, before deciding on a preparation strategy, one has to have some basic understanding of the GMAT and how

This edition of the Conversations series features Kaneisha Grayson, a 2010 Harvard MBA/MPA and well-known blogger and entrepreneur. My long-time readers have seen me mention her on this site before, but, for my newer members, I’ll give a quick introduction.

Kaneisha is a long-time member of the MBA blogosphere, starting with her personal blog back in the day when she was approaching the MBA application process. She ended up gaining admission to a joint MBA/MPA program at Harvard and, during her time at Harvard, she became a relationship and dating advisor and launched Crazy Girl Nation, a site … Read the rest

Recently, I realized that I could provide an additional service to my site visitors by presenting other people’s paths into the business world. With this in mind, I’m kicking off a new addition to MarquisParker.com, “Conversations”, an interview series where I’ll profile people from a wide range of backgrounds who have made their way into the business world. My goal with “Conversations” is to show that there is no single right way to become a business leader and, in the process, I hope that you all learn from the advice and lessons offered by the interviewees.

My first guest in … Read the rest

Back in the summer of 2008, I was approached by the publishing company of a new MBA admissions strategy book called “The Best Business Schools Admissions Secrets” with a request to write up a review. I promptly read the book and was fully prepared to type up a lengthy review, but then real life happened and I dropped the ball on it.

A couple of weeks ago, I found the book in a box in my apartment and remembered that I’d neglected to follow through on my commitment to write a review. So, I re-read the book to get a … Read the rest

Back on July 5th, I told all of you about a free webinar that was being held on July 8th by TheArtOfApplying.com, my friend Kaneisha Grayson’s new B-school coaching company.

The webinar was entitled “B-school Despite the Odds” and, in it, Kaneisha gave an overview of her own background and what most people would say were shortcomings in her application followed by some general tips that she’s used to help some of her clients over the years. I was really impressed with how open she was about her own MBA application journey and her willingness to put it all … Read the rest

Hey, folk. I hope you all had a relaxing 4th of July weekend and are ready to head back into the office tomorrow. I made it back to Chicago earlier today after a long day of traveling and I have a feeling that I’ll struggle to stay awake at work tomorrow. Gotta love that first day back in the office after a three day weekend, right?

I actually didn’t post this entry to talk about the end of the holiday weekend though. Rather, I posted it to pass along word of a cool web-based event coming up later this week … Read the rest

What’s good, folk. I don’t know if I’ve got my timing right, but I believe that the second round application deadline for Stanford GSB is right around the corner and, as y’all know, it’s a pretty difficult place to get into (I still don’t know how I did it). I recently came across a video from MBA Podcaster’s “Getting Into” series that provides a really good profile on the GSB and some tips from the founder of Accepted.com on how to structure an application to the GSB. I thought some of you might be interested in checking it out. I’m … Read the rest
