Hey, folk. I hope you all had a relaxing 4th of July weekend and are ready to head back into the office tomorrow. I made it back to Chicago earlier today after a long day of traveling and I have a feeling that I’ll struggle to stay awake at work tomorrow. Gotta love that first day back in the office after a three day weekend, right?

I actually didn’t post this entry to talk about the end of the holiday weekend though. Rather, I posted it to pass along word of a cool web-based event coming up later this week that could be really helpful to people considering applying to B-school this year. Oh, and by the way, the event is FREE, which I know is making a lot of you smile right now. :-)

My longtime readers might remember me mentioning the blog of a really cool young lady named Kaneisha Grayson, with whom I first connected back in 2005 when I was still involved with MBADiversity.com. Back then, I believe Kaneisha was about to enter her senior year at Pomona College in California and was thinking about applying to business school straight out of undergrad. Now, she is a fresh 2010 joint-degree graduate from Harvard Business School and Harvard Kennedy School and has just launched a new MBA admissions coaching site called The Art of Applying. As a kick-off to this new venture, she’s hosting a free webinar to provide tips to MBA applicants based on her own MBA application journey. The following is some quick summary information about the webinar:

Title: “B-School Despite the Odds”
Date: Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 5:15 PT
Host: Kaneisha Grayson, HBS/KSG ’10
Cost: $0.00

In her webinar, Kaneisha will share her own MBA application story and give some tips on how she was able to work around some of the perceived “shortcomings” in her application. Having seen what she has done on her blog over the years in terms of sharing information, I have a feeling that this will be an event that you won’t want to miss if you’re looking at applying to B-school this year.

Given that I provide MBA admissions advisory services, I know it might seem odd for me to be promoting a “competing” offering, but I see this whole advisory game as one where what matters is helping people to get into business school. As my longtime readers know, I’ve always been about what’s best for the people, so, if I can direct someone to a resource that could result in an admit letter, then it’s all-to-the-good, even if that resource isn’t me. Besides, I consider Kaneisha to be good people, so I’d like to see her new venture get off to a great start.

I’m going to try to sign in for Kaneisha’s webinar to hear her story and I hope some of you have a chance to do so, as well.
