This is going to be a really short entry with a really short video in which I answer a short email from a medical student who is interested in a career in Management Consulting. She has been looking into the industry lately and wants to pursue a position as a Consultant, but she fears that her work experience isn’t well-suited for it. She asked for my advice on the question and, because I’ve written several entries on this stopic in the past, I gave her a quick response and left it at that.

I’d like to take this opportunity to refer anyone who is thinking of sending me an email to my Contact page, where I lay out a set of guidelines for reaching out to me. The reader below seems to not have read it and went against several of the items that I posted on the page. I responded because her email was rather short and might have been useful to some readers, but that sort of thing isn’t likely to happen often. So, I would HIGHLY recommend that anyone who wants advice from me to read the items on that Contact page.

Dear Marquis

My name is LW and I am a second year medic student studying at the University Of Cambridge, UK.

Recently I have been introduced to the field of management consulting by a few friends. I have to say I am very interested in this career. I have started researching about the industry and looking into the case studies. However my biggest fear is that my work experiences are not relevant to consulting. I was wondering whether it would put me at any disadvantage during the screening process?

I have attached my CV in this email.

Thanks

LW
