Hey, everyone. This is going to be a really quick entry to pass along info on a couple of items…literally, two things:

#1. After months of talking about it, I finally made time to create a set of guidelines for readers who email me for advice and perspectives on their issues. Before this point, I would repeatedly state my preferences for reader emails and people would ignore those statements over and over again, which would result in me restating them constantly and annoying other readers in the process. I guess that was all driven by my pledge to always respond to every email that I received, but I’ve decided to dump that pledge and work according to the guidelines from now on…if people aren’t willing to read the list and use them when drafting their messages to me, then I’m totally willing to click “DELETE” when necessary. The new guidelines can be found on the “Contact” page for this site, which can be found either by clicking the button on the top navigation bar or by direct-clicking the following link, http://www.marquisparker.com/contact/. Before y’all say anything, I already know that it’s a really long list, but, if you could see some of the emails I’ve received in the past, you’d all realize that I NEEDED to make this list as explicit and lengthy as I did. I’m hoping that creating these guidelines and posting them on the site will keep me from having to complain so much about some of the emails that I respond to on here. I’m trying to make this process of helping people as smooth as I can in order to help out as many folks as possible.

#2. I received an email from the founder of a Q&A site with information about Project Management called AskAboutProjects.com and, realizing that many of my readers work in that field, I thought I’d post the link to the site up here. I took a quick look at the site earlier today and there are some really good tidbits of information on there for those of you who are interested in projects and how to run them. I’ve copied the email that I received from the creater of the site below because I figure that he does a better job of explaining it than I can. Check out his message and visit the site if you’ve got questions about Project Management:

“Hi Marquis,

My name is Steven. I have read one of your article online and appreciate the fact that you are are really passionate about helping less experienced learning about business and how to manage their career.

We have just launched a new site at www.askaboutprojects.com. It is a Q&A site focused on project management.

It uses a new type of platform that is at the crossroads of blogs, Wikipedia, Digg (for the votes), and even the Xbox (for the badges, and the playfulness) which has proved very successful with stackoverflow.com (which I believe has become the #1 Q&A site for developers)..

We would be grateful if you would consider checking it out, blog about it, or even better participate in it! There are still unanswered questions, and we need experienced professionals to keep helping the less experienced.

To get an idea of the full potential of askaboutprojects.com, it helps (me at least!) to look at the page featuring stackoverflow.com top users -> www.stackoverflow.com/users: you will see this is a very active community with top players of their field. It is also a very good way for professionals to promote their skills and gain awareness.

We are contacting you and other bloggers… and hopefully will get this party started!

Thank you for your time.

If you need any help or additional info, let me know.

Steven
