OK, so y’all know that I like passing along good MBA application resources when I find out about them, right? And, you guys also know that I’m all about helping my fellow Stanford GSB alums get the word out about their entrepreneurial ventures, right? Well, I’m going to accomplish both of those things with this entry
I recently learned about an interesting collection of MBA application strategies called the “MBA Applications Bootcamp” being offered by a company called Expert Collective. The founder of Expert Collective is a Stanford GSB ’05 grad named Josh H., who’s got a FANTASTIC story about his road to the GSB. Instead of telling his story, I’ll let him do it through his own words:

Josh H. wrote:
” You see, I grew up in rural North Carolina, had a 2.24 (!) undergraduate GPA, even sold vacuum cleaners door-to-door, and eventually bounced around a couple of 2nd tier consulting firms. Not exactly a slam-dunk applicant at any business school, right? So I understand, it’s hard to believe I have a Stanford MBA
Well, it’s true. Before I applied, I really had no clue how to pull everything together into a winning application. I knew I had an interesting story to tell, but I didn’t know if it was the “right” story, or if I otherwise had any shot at a top-tier business school.
So, you can imagine my excitement when I got the call from Derrick Bolton, director of Stanford MBA Admissions, at 9pm while I was still plugging away at work. I was so excited that I took the rest of the night off

As you can see, Josh wasn’t the typical kind of candidate that one would expect to gain admission to a top-tier business school, but he was able to do it somehow. So, with his “MBA Application Bootcamp”, he’s basically pulled together everything that he did to find success and packaged it as a set of advice for others. He let me take a sneak peak at some of his videos and materials and it looks like he’s got a good set of insights to help applicants who might be in need of guidance.

I have been an irregular reader of your blog. We had briefly exchanged messages in 2007 and I have kept coming back to your blog from time to time.
I like the way you have remodelled the look and feel here. It also feels great to be visiting “marquisparker.com”
Keep up the good work. And thank you for all the time and effort in maintaining this great resource.
