Hey, everybody. I know it’s been a while since I posted an entry, but that’s because I’ve been out of the country on vacation for the past nine days. I took a MAJOR trip out to India to attend the wedding of two of my Stanford GSB classmates and do some traveling in the few days before the festivities. I don’t even know if I can properly describe how BALLER the wedding day was…actually, I should say the wedding DAYS because the events ran from Friday afternoon through Monday afternoon. I’ve gone to nice weddings before, but none of them were anything like this one. I’m still jetlagged, so I won’t write an entry about it now but I’ll try to do so sometime this weekend.
Instead of writing a run-down of the wedding, I wanted to make a quick entry to post a few emails that I received from readers while I was gone. Usually, I get emails from people asking me to give them information or help them think through a problem and, when I respond to those emails, I seldom receive even a simple “thank you” from those readers. So, it really makes me smile to receive unsolicited emails from readers who just want to thank me for the effort I put into helping people. I’ve copied a few of these shout-outs below…gotta love it!

“Hello Marquis,
I came across your blog randomly as I was looking through information on MBA programs. I’ve looked at many of your entries and I am in awe of how caring and helpful you are.
I do not have any questions, instead I just wanted to tell you that you are doing a phenomenal job and I am glad there are people like you out there who take a proactive approach in helping others. It means a lot even though I may not know you. Good luck with everything and I am looking forward to reading more of your posts.
Sincerely,
MS”

“Hi Marquis,
My name is T.O. and I’m a first year student at a UK university. I’ve found your blog quite interesting but the most interesting aspect was your personal profile. My father was an executive director at BCG and during his time in consulting, I never met any consultants with African heritage whose interests resembled mine (basketball, football, Hip Hop, R&B, Bodybuilding/fitness) so it was very refreshing to come accross your profile. Even your favourite films list (bar one or 2 of them) resembles mine.
I don’t however share you or my fathers interest in consulting (I’m a lot more interested in trading) but I loved reading about your story. Thanks for the inspiration.
Kind regards,
TO”
