2008 has been a historic year both positively (OBAMA!!!) and negatively (O-DRAMA…meltdown of the US and world economy), so I’m really interested to see what happens in 2009. Also, more personally, 2008 has been a year of MAJOR life change for me (in more ways than y’all know) and I’m especially looking forward to see… Read the rest
I’m going to keep this entry short because I know that y’all probably have dinners, parties, church services, and other New Year’s Eve events to hit up tonight. I just wanted to send a quick shout out to wish you all a Happy New Year.

Hey there. I’m writing this entry from the terminal area at Reagan National Airport as I’m waiting for my flight back to Chicago and I’m kinda sad to be leaving. Of course leaving my family is part of that, but a BIG part of it leaving this niiiiiiiiiice weather here in the great state of Virginia. It was 68 degrees when I hopped out of the car and, when I checked in for my flight, the kiosk said that the current temperature in Chicago is 24 degrees, which will certainly be lower by the time I land. As y’all can… Read the rest
What’s good, readers around the globe. I’d like to start by wishing you all a happy holiday and passing along a belated “Merry Christmas” for those of you who celebrate it. I hope all of you are getting some quality time in with your loved ones and have enjoyed the time off (if you were able to get some leave from school/work). As we approach the end of 2008, I hope you’ll all think about what’s really important in life and make sure that those who care about you know that those feelings are being reciprocated.

Hey, everyone. I’m posting a quick mini-entry from good ol’ VA to inform you of a couple of resource that you might find useful. I know that this blog is a pretty daggone useful resource on its own, but I’m all about passing along good info if it might be helpful to my readers. So, without further delay…

The first resource is a new blog called Management Consulted, written by a Stanford undergrad alum and former McKinsey consultant named Kevin G. In his blog, Kevin breaks down the nuts and bolts of life as a management consultant and gives… Read the rest

Hey there, folk. So, I’m writing this entry from within the walls of my warm apartment, where I’ll probably sit all day long. Chicago is such a nice city, but it’s so cold outside that most people seem to stay inside during the winter months. My girl TD refers to this as “The Great Hibernation” and says that it happens every year like clockwork. I’ve been told that the warm months are so nice that it more than makes up for these cold times, but it’s going to be like five more months until those warm months come. I hope… Read the rest
What’s good, peoples. I know that it’s been a while since I’ve posted a real new entry, but I’ve been swamped trying to get everything set up in Chicago. So far, I’m really liking this city and, fortunately, I already had a lot of friends here, so it’s turning out to be a good transition after two weeks. The new job is going well and I’m happy to be on to a new challenge. The only downside of being in Chicago is the weather…oh my goodness, this city is colder than anything I’ve ever experienced. Before this past weekend, I… Read the rest
Sometimes, I can’t help but be amazed at the reach of this blog…
So, earlier this afternoon, I was hard at work when I got an IM from my man D.A. who is in the thick of the MBA application process. He also happens to be a long-time reader of this blog. During this IM conversation, he informs me that my “mantra of MBA relationships” is making its way through the MBA applicant circles and is opening people’s eyes about what to expect. It took me a second to even realize what he was referring to because I didn’t remember… Read the rest
