OK, y’all know I love ‘da kids, especially when they’re looking at the MBA journey early on in undergrad…so, I had to share this email from an undergrad at Duke. Plus, she’s also from the South, so I am pulling for her bigtime, even if she did try to knock the great state of VA in her email
The most eyecatching thing about her email is that she’s planning on using her own story through the MBA journey to help others along the way…sounds kinda familiar, huh?
Also, I encourage the younger readers out there to look into the 2+2 program at Havard that LC mentions in her email (2+2 program). I don’t know much about it, but I’m all about passing along info for offerings that could be helpful to my readers.
One more thing before I go…I’m not usually one to talk about politics on this site because it can start huge conflicts, but I saw a recent “Daily Show” clip that I just HAD to post. After seeing it, all I can say is that Jon Stewart is the truth!!! Comedy Central is providing some of the realest political commentary on TV right now. You’ve gotta love it.

“Hi Marquis!
My name is LC and I am an undergrad at Duke University who stumbled across your blog a couple days ago. I don?t have any questions but I just wanted to say thanks so much for this information! Our stats are about as different as night and day?I?m a women studies and sociology major whose technological
repertoire consists of e-mail and Microsoft Word, raised in the southeast (we don?t consider Virginians to be one of us
)?but I?ve been wanting to go to GSB in a big way since my sophomore year in college. You?re blog has been an amazing resource. With ten more days until school starts and no pressing assignments, I often hop on Google to while away the time and that?s how I stumbled across your weblog. After reading one entry, I knew I had to go back to the very beginning and pretty much just spent the whole day following your journey over the last three years?despite all kinds of ?what the heck
are you doing, get off the computer? looks from the fam. Not only has the blog been informative and honest, it is just down right hilarious. (Being home for the summer, I even had to bring my laptop in my mom?s room to read a few snippets and we were both rollin?I think it was reading about the time share
experience because my mom and I did that a couple weeks ago and got a free trip to San Diego so we could definitely relate. Hahaha!)
Anyway, as I said, GSB has been my working goal for the last two years and most of my undergraduate experience has been geared toward eventually applying. If I play my cards right, I hope to be one of those students who attend B-school one to two years after undergrad. I was recently introduced to a new Harvard program geared towards students who want to do exactly that. (Actually, you should check it out. It?s a pretty cool reference for youngsters like me who contact you because they are looking towards the future–http://www.hbs.edu/mba/2+2/) But after reading your blog, I am more
convinced than ever that that GSB is the place for me. Being African-American, female and probably younger than most of my classmates, I want a school where I can really ?fit? into the community. I also have a pretty strong entrepreneurial side and I think that GSB would definitely nurture that.
You?ll probably be old and gray with this blog long since forgotten by the time I actually apply to B-school (three or four years from now) so I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thanks again. And when I do get in (*fingers crossed*) I?ll send you a link to my blog ?Journey to a Stanford MBA Version 2.0? and you can see how the younger generation is kickin it on your old stomping grounds. Haha.
Thanks again, you?ve been a real inspiration!
Sincerely,
LC
