Happy Thanksgiving

This is going to be a short entry, but I didn’t want to let this weekend pass without wishing all of you a happy Thanksgiving holiday. I trust that each of you had a nice observance of “Turkey Day” and, hopefully, were surrounded by family and friends. As for myself, I spent the holiday in Oklahoma with my GF’s family and had the big “Meet the Parents” event. Leading up to Thanksgiving, I was hecka nervous, but, at the start of this week, I miraculously calmed down. I guess I realized that I’m a cool cat so I likely didn’t have anything to worry about…All I had to do was act right and the rest would work itself out. It turns out that all went well and I had a great time hanging with her family. From what I hear, I left there made a good impression…Mission accomplished! Gotta pat myself on the back for that one…but, honestly, how could they have not been checkin’ for The Kid??? ;-)

The Thanksgiving holiday brought a nice long weekend that served as a much-needed break from the grind of work. It’s amazing how one can conquer a steep learning curve when working on these studies. I don’t know what kinds of experiences my peers starting out at other firms are having, but I really dig the way that McK brings along new folks…There’s no better way to learn this Consulting game than to just be thrown into it full force. Based on my experiences, when it comes to new Consultants, holding a newbie’s hand and shielding him/her from the “tough” work does nothing but slow down his/her learning process. I can’t wait until getting through these studies becomes second nature to me because I’ll finally be “dangerous” then ;-)
