A reader recently left a comment on one of my entries asking for suggestions on how to get better at Excel modeling. For those of you who are interested, the following link is for the book that we use in the core Modeling class at Stanford GSB, “Decision Modeling with Microsoft Excel”:Link

This book was co-written by one of the GSB professors and I found it to be very useful in explaining a lot of concepts that I never thought I’d need again. I hope you guys find it useful.

and the professors rock too. I am impressed with Patells ability to turn a bone dry subject into such an interesting one in class!

How is your work going on, Marqius?
Does your job entail lot of travel? How much work-life balance are you able to achieve?

    Just curious….

    Hi Marquis,
    That answers my question. Great!

    Thanks,

Ash, I never had a class with Patell, but that’s precisely what I heard about him. He did teach a short modeling unit during Math Camp when I was there, but I couldn’t get much of a read on him that early. I had Tunay and he turned out to be one of my favorite profs at the GSB.

Bright, work is going very well so far, but there has been a good amount of travel. I’ve been in the Midwest for 3 or 4 days of each week since the second week of September for client work. It’s been nice because I’m new to ATL and don’t feel like I’m missing out on much, but it sort of does make it hard to get to know this place. I wouldn’t say that I have any work-life balance issues, but that’s mainly because I’m basically in ATL on my own. I hope that answers your questions…if not, let me know.
