What’s up, readers. This entry is about about two things that are totally unrelated to Consulting or B-school:

1. This is going to sound random, but I think it’s hecka cool. Tuesday started off a little rough because my original 7:30am flight to the client site from LaGuardia was cancelled and I had to take one a couple of hours later. Already somewhat dejected because I’d be arriving on-site later than expected, I was even more annoyed at the airport security checkpoint when the guy behind me swung a security screening container and hit me square on my knee. He… Read the rest

What’s up, everyone. I’m writing to you from a hotel in NYC, where I’ve been since Sunday night. I came to town to participate in a diversity recruiting panel at Columbia Business School and doing this event has shown me once again how devoted to diversity McKinsey is. As you guys know, I usually spend my Mondays at my client site in the Midwest, but, when I heard about this event at Columbia, I wanted to help out because I

This is going to be a short entry and pretty specific to folks in ATL, so, if you’re from somewhere else, here’s your chance to look away.

A few weeks ago, I made a post where I gave a shout out to my mortgage consultant because of the great work that he did in helping me get a loan to buy my home. Given the awful situation I was in at the time, I needed things to happen quickly

A reader recently left a comment on one of my entries asking for suggestions on how to get better at Excel modeling. For those of you who are interested, the following link is for the book that we use in the core Modeling class at Stanford GSB, “Decision Modeling with Microsoft Excel”:Link

This book was co-written by one of the GSB professors and I found it to be very useful in explaining a lot of concepts that I

I know that some people reading this entry are pretty nervous right now because they’ve got a first round with McKinsey, Bain, Booz, or some other consulting firm staring them in the face. Having been in that position only a year ago, I feel your pain but know that you can get through it. I just finished typing out some words of advice to some friends of mine who are about to start their consulting first round interviews and

What’s up, y’all. I know it’s been ages since I posted anything up here, but it’s not because i haven’t had anything to say. I’ve actually had a lot to write about, but I’m still waiting to hear from the folks up-top at McKinsey about whether I’m allowed to continue this blog and, if so, what sorts of things I’m restricted from describing here. It’s been tough because it’s been a reflex for the past 3 years to instantly start

After spending the weekend helping out with BCSS recruiting at the NBMBAA Conference, I switched gears and hopped a plane to SFO so I could participate in McKinsey’s second-year student recruiting at Stanford GSB. While out west, I had to wear two hats and help out on behalf of both the Southern Office (I’m on the core GSB recruiting team for them) and BCSS (I’m the GSB BCSS recruiting captain). I thought I’d get all mixed up with both roles,

Whew, your boy has made it one more year and reached another birthday yesterday. This officially makes it three birthdays that you guys have shared with me on this blog and that tells me that I’ve been putting all my business out in the street up here for waaaaaaaaay too long :-)

This week, ATL played host to the annual National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) Conference from Wednesday through today. I didn’t get a chance to participate in the first couple of days because I had to work, but I was fortunate enough to check… Read the rest
