After yet another delay, I’m back with a new update on what’s going on with me :-)

At the end of last week, I had two major milestones in my time at Atlanta and at McK. The first one is a big one…I returned to the office to find that my box of business cards had been delivered!!! I know y’all might not think that’s a big deal, but it was pretty major to me…here’s why. During my first four weeks of work, I’ve been meeting a lot of people around ATL and, as we’re exchanging pleasantries, I will tell… Read the rest

I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted an entry, but I’ve been really busy in the past week or so. I didn’t realize that everything would start revving up so soon, so I’m getting a lightning fast reintroduction to the Real World.

Life at McKinsey is still going well and I couldn’t ask for a better first study to have been assigned to. I thought I would have been brought in slowly, but I hit the ground running from the first day and have been cramming info about the client’s business into my brain constantly. Ahhh, everything that I’ve been working for in the past couple of years is becoming reality tomorrow morning with the start of my first official study. I was “on the beach” last week and, while it felt strange being idle, I was able to get a lot of little tasks done with that five free days in the office. I’ve been told that I’m joining one of several teams working for this client and the… Read the rest

This is going to be a really short entry because my first day in the office was rather uneventful. I’m starting out “on the beach”, which is a consulting term for “unstaffed”. Over the weekend, I was a little bummed about that, but, in hindsight, it was good because it gave me a chance to do a lot of little things like get my voicemail set up, find a doctor, sign up for rental car loyalty programs, and find a real estate agent (to save me from the drama I wrote about in my last post). That time on the… Read the rest

What’s going on, y’all. I know it’s been a while since I wrote an entry, but it’s been a busy time for me as I get adjusted to everything. It’s been a tough road, but I have most things in order and am ready to get my career off on the right foot.

My McKinsey career started last Thursday with the ATL office’s 2-day new hire orientation. The biggest part of the 2-day session was getting to know the folks that I was starting with. I came in with a class of about 15 people and all of them were… Read the rest
