At long last, I’ve finally moved into my place in Atlanta and the transition from B-school to the Real World is almost complete. Moving here has been a long process and it’s good to almost be finished with it. I started by shipping a bunch of boxes to my mom’s house in VA right before graduation back in June. She kept them in her garage for me until Friday when I flew to VA, rented a van, and loaded everything into the back of it. My GF flew in yesterday to accompany me on the drive down to ATL and we took off earlier this morning. Google Maps said that the drive was supposed to take 12 hrs and 37 minutes, but we somehow made it down in about 9 hours. My body was aching by the time we arrived, so I was happy to only be moving in boxes and not furniture…thank goodness for Craig’s List helping me to find a furnished temporary apartment.
I’ve spent most of the night unpacking and trying to find a place for all of my stuff and I’m quickly realizing that I’ve been living a “pack-rat” lifestyle for far too long. For the next two days, I have to find my way around this new city and do basic tasks like grocery shopping, hitting up Wal-Mart to buy basic housewares, and getting a new driver’s license. On Wednesday morning, I’ll be flying back to Cali to help my GF move into her new place in Palo Alto and I’ll stay out there for a few days to get my last dose of the area before returning to get settled down in “A-Town”. It’s really weird…it feels like I was just driving from VA to CA to start B-school yesterday and now I’m on my way back down South from CA. Time certainly flies when you’re learning and growing.
