I just posted the following on a message board in respone to someone’s question about the difficulty of grad school as compared to undergrad years. As much as I’ve written on this blog, this may seem old, but some readers may find it informative:

——————–

Interesting question…I’d say that the difficulty of a grad program depends on a lot of factors, including your prior educational and professional experience, the quality and backgrounds of your classmates, whether you’re working or not, and how well you actually want to do academically. My undergrad was in a subject that I had no prior… Read the rest

The post-MBA life has started

When i walked across the stage at graduation I thought life would move into an easy stage, where all I’d have to do was kick it and hang out until I start work in August. That still might happen, but it sure hasn’t happened yet. I’ve been just as busy in the past few days as I was in the last few days before graduation:

The first big post-graduation task was moving out of my house. Our lease doesn’t officially end until this coming Monday, but the group of MBA1′s taking over our house asked if some of us would… Read the rest

Well folks, it’s official…your boy is finished with graduate school. The Stanford GSB grad ceremony was on Saturday afternoon and the School of Education one took place yesterday. Now, i’ve got both the MBA and MA in Education degrees in hand and it feels good to know that it’s all over. I still can’t believe that it’s only been three years since I made my decision to apply to business school and only two years since I put in my final notice at my pre-MBA employer. Time flies so quickly when you’re too busy hitting the books to pay attention.… Read the rest

A few days ago, the following comment was left on a recent blog entry and I thought it would make a good thing to write about since I can’t go into details about the Disorientation activities we’ve been having recently.

Are you more excited or sad to be officially done with the MBA?

————————————————-

Whew, this is a question that has been bouncing around in my mind for the past two or three weeks. At this point, I can’t say that I’m 100% in either direction…it’s more of a blend of feelings with one or the other… Read the rest

YO!!! I should have written this entry a couple of days ago, but I’ve been too busy in the past two days to do so. As of Friday at 4pm, I’m officially finished with all of my Stanford coursework and the MBA and MA in Education are COMPLETED!!! It’s been a long six quarters and it feels great to be at the end of the road. now, I’ve just got to survive for the next 6 days until Saturday’s graduation. On Friday, our Disorientation activities started and, as I mentioned in an early post, I can’t give details about what’s… Read the rest

I just received word that my roomie Detavio has started a couple of blog sites that might interest people who read mine.

The first is his personal blog and, in it, he’ll be giving advice about business school career topics (he’s going into sales and marketing after graduation). The URL is http://detavio.blogspot.com/

The second is a blog devoted to PurposePages.com, a startup that he’s doing with a couple of our MBA1 friends. This company is focused on helping people find resources and build communities based on what they’re passionate about in life. The company is still being built, but Detavio… Read the rest

No more classes for The Kid…

Ahhh, today was the last day of classes for the Spring quarter, which means that I am officially finished with class at Stanford. I’m not finished with my coursework yet though because I still have a final group paper for my Urban Ed class and an individual 12-15 page final paper for my Comparing Institutional Forms class to get done by this weekend. With that said, it feels GREAT to know that I don’t have to worry about going to any more classes. Also, by this time on Monday, I’ll be officially finished with school forever…one of my uncles is… Read the rest
