When you’ve got President Bush writing you a B-school recommendation, I guess you don’t need a college degree to get a top MBA. I wish this kid the best, but all I can say is “Damn”

The big theme for today is entrepreneurship because that topic has been on my mind a lot lately. One of the classes I’m taking, “Managing Growing Enterprises”, has had me thinking about an entrepreneurial career since writing my final paper last week and some other events have kept the topic in my head…

Last night, I, along with my entire section of MGE, were invited to the home of our professor for a reception thrown by him and his wife. Professor Ellis is a GSB alum from the Class of 1992 who jumped into entrepreneurship a year out of Bschool… Read the rest

It feels good to finally have made it to the Memorial Day holiday weekend. It’s been a long couple of weeks and I’ve pretty much been limping to this point, so some rest and relaxation will be much appreciated. Most of the folks at the GSB have gone out of town for the next few days, but I’ve chosen to stay here and be productive for the next few days. Graduation is only about three weeks away and the prospect of having to move has been on my mind a lot, so I’m planning to spend a good portion of… Read the rest

…Now we’ve got reports of a mountain lion being seen on campus. Here’s an email that one of the MBA1′s sent out to let us know about it:

——————-

I heard a report that a mountain lion has been sighted by people on campus in the last 24 hours. Palo Alto police just confirmed this report (on the phone), and they have no other update. For safety, I think we should assume that the mountain lion is still loose and running wild on campus.Read the rest

I don’t know if the news of what’s been going on around here has gotten out, but it is getting a little off the hook in Palo Alto. In the past week or so, there have been a string of four armed robberies from pedestrians, including two of them on Stanford’s campus. The following article has more information about the crimes and where things are with the case.

The thing that has bothered me about it all is the general descriptions that were used for the suspects before the police came out with the sketches in the above article.

The time got away from me this weekend, so this will be the only entry that I right before the start of this coming week. it’s been a busy weekend, but a relaxing one, which was welcome after the hectic nature of the past few weekends.

As promised earlier, I’ve got to give you guys a rundown of the GSB Show, which was absolutely off the hook! Traditionally, the show is held at one of the auditoriums on campus, but, this time, it was held at a real theatre at a local high school. The place was huge and there… Read the rest

Wednesdays are supposed to be our day off at the GSB, but I was dumb about how I made my schedule this quarter, so I’ve actually got a class from noon to 3pm every Wednesday. The class is called “Comparing institutional forms” and it is cross-listed between the GSB, School of Ed, and Sociology Dept. The content in the class is really good, but, by the time I get to class, I’m wiped out from the first half of my week. I try to stay focused, but fatigue has a way of making one’s mind wander. I’m still learning a… Read the rest

Happy Mexican Independence Day to all my Chicano readers! I hope your celebrations were as festive as the one here on campus sounds like it was…

Here’s a brief rundown of yesterday’s events…Yesterday morning, my Strategic Philanthropy group and I visited Eastside College Prep School and I was amazed by what i saw there. The school was founded 10 years ago by a Stanford alum (undergraduate degree and graduate degree from the School of Ed) to bring a high school back to East Palo Alto after the city had closed its own high school a few year before. As a… Read the rest
